At the core of Angels for Humanity’s Medical and Dental Missions is Dr. Julio Hernandez, our devoted President and the driving force behind this life-changing initiative. With a heart rooted in service and a deep love for children, Dr. Julio has dedicated himself to bringing quality medical and dental care to those who need it most—often in places where healthcare is a distant dream.
Dr. Julio does more than lead—he personally builds the foundation for each mission from the ground up. Long before a mission trip begins, he is already hard at work: recruiting compassionate doctors, dentists, nurses, and volunteers; coordinating with in-country partners; and meticulously planning every detail to ensure the highest standard of care. From securing medication donations and negotiating discounted pharmaceutical supplies to arranging lodging, meals, and even cultural excursions for volunteers, no detail is too small for his attention. His ability to seamlessly orchestrate these complex missions speaks not only to his leadership but to his unwavering commitment to our cause.
But beyond logistics and leadership, what sets Dr. Julio apart is his extraordinary heart. He doesn’t just treat patients—he listens, he comforts, and he connects. He reminds every child that they matter. For many of the children we serve, he is their first encounter with a doctor who truly sees them.
His tireless efforts ensure that each medical mission is not only efficient and impactful but also filled with compassion, dignity, and joy. Thanks to his vision and dedication, Angels for Humanity is able to touch hundreds of lives each year and inspire a new generation of children to dream bigger.

Over half of our volunteers have no medical background, yet their contributions are absolutely essential. From helping with logistics to engaging directly with patients, non-medical volunteers play a critical role in clinic operations and in creating a welcoming, supportive environment for families.
As a non-medical volunteer, you’ll work alongside healthcare professionals, assist in daily clinic functions, and help deliver community health education that empowers families to care for their children long after we leave. You’ll also build meaningful relationships and gain an authentic, life-changing cultural experience.
Participating in a medical mission is a transformative experience. You’ll witness life from the perspective of those who live in some of the world’s most disadvantaged areas—and you’ll leave with more than you give. The care we provide over a few days is small compared to the lasting impact these communities leave on our hearts.
